When I was growing up in western Kansas I was lucky enough to have a great art program in the local high school. It was there that I was introduced to clay and using the potters wheel. I went on to study ceramics at Kansas State University, under the guidance of Angelo Garzio, where I received my BFA in 1978. After I finished my undergraduate degree, I moved to Denver, Colorado hoping to establish my own ceramic studio. I ended up working at the Arvada Center for the Arts & Humanities firing their cone 10 gas kiln in exchange for studio space. The Arvada Center was a wonderful place to further my experience working with different forms and firing techniques.

Finding it difficult to earn a living from my pottery, I pursued a different career path but returned to pottery making in 2021 after locating to Lancaster, PA.

Currently I'm working and teaching at Inspire Pottery Studio, located in Denver, PA.

My pots are all wheel thrown and reflect the influence from British, Japanese, and Korean pottery. I create a range of stoneware pots, some electric oxidation fired to cone 6 and some wood fired, salt glazed to cone 11.
